1 ½ stories means that about half the house is 2 stories, and the other half is one story with very tall ceilings. This house has 18 foot tall ceilings in the entry, family room and staircase. The living and dining rooms have partially vaulted ceilings that rise to 18 feet. The kitchen also has a partially vaulted ceiling that peaks at 12 feet. The rest of the downstairs has 9 foot ceilings. The upstairs living room and 2 bedrooms have partially vaulted ceilings that top out at 10 feet. One of the upstairs bedrooms has a dormer window that extends part of the ceiling to 12 feet. The upstairs full bathroom and landing area have 8 foot ceilings. There is a 4 foot by 4 foot skylight in the stair well that is about 24 feet in the air. The living room, dining room and entry has large multi-run ceiling mold. The dining room has large chair rail.
The tall ceiling area of the house is an open floor plan. Other than a wall between the dining room and kitchen, all of the rooms in the this area of the house are open to each other. This is a popular neighborhood for walkers, and they come out in force in the evening. Occasionally someone will stop and look at the mystery tree. No one ever stops to look at any of my other trees, so apparently they're trying to figure out what it is. I'm not at all knowledgeable about trees. I'm sure someone with more expertise will readily know.
The lot is slightly "V" shaped and gets wider in the back, making the backyard big enough for a large swimming pool with room to spare.
There was a severe hail storm in the area in 2003. The roof was replaced after the storm, so the roof is only about 5 years old. That took place before I bought the house, but I had been looking for a home in this neighborhood regularly for 2 year before I bought one, and saw the roof being replaced.
